Adult Formation

Continuing education for our adults

Sunday

Inter-generational forum from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. in Campbell Hall. Beginning on Sunday Feb. 5 Neal Christopherson will be leading Adult Forum.  The topic will be Diana Butler Bass’ book A People’s History of Christianity.  The book is not required for the forum, but if you would like to read along it is available through Amazon in both print and ebook versions.

The nursery is open from 9:15 a.m. to noon every Sunday morning

Wednesday

Men’s Propers is a more than thirty-year tradition at St. Paul’s! Join with the men of the parish for vigorous conversation about the scripture lessons assigned for the following Sunday.  We meet at 7 a.m. in the Guild Room for coffee, hot rolls and juice while we discuss each of the lessons in a way that often takes us into how our faith gets expressed in the daily events of our lives. All the men are warmly welcomed and encouraged to participate.

Thursday

A Women’s Bible Study group meets at the church in the Library on Thursdays at 10 a.m.

Other groups

The Anglican Poets Club usually meets on Tuesdays of the first month in each quarter in a private home. Each session examines the works of a different poet or school of poetry. Past topics have included T. S. Eliot’s Murder in the Cathedral, and The Cocktail Party, the Metaphysical School and Wordsworth’s Ecclesiastical Sonnets, Rose Macaulay’s novel The Towers of Trebizond and Sir John Betjeman’s In Praise of Churches. To come is Dorothy Sayers’ The Nine Tailors.

Renovaré (“renewal”) is based on small groups of five to seven who gather to study short readings from great writings in Christian spirituality. Once formed, each group commits to working together through the academic year. New groups will be open in September and organized as needed.
