Our Mission
From our Catechism:
- “The mission of the Church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.”
- “The Church pursues its mission as it prays and worships, proclaims the Gospel, and promotes justice, peace, and love.”
- “The Church carries out its mission through the ministry of all its members.”
Our faith
- We are an Episcopal church, a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
- We confess that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God, and that through his life, death and resurrection we are assured of eternal life.
- We are a reformed church, believing that we are saved by grace through faith and that the Holy Scriptures contain all things necessary for salvation.
Our worship
- We are a liturgical church in the catholic tradition, worshipping with words and actions extending back nearly 2,000 years to the days of the apostles themselves.
- Celebrating the Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper, the Mass) is at the very core of all our worship. In the bread and wine of this holy meal, we believe that Christ is truly present, renewing the forgiveness of our sins and nourishing us to do the work that lies ahead.
Our parish
- We are a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane under the oversight of the Rt. Rev. James Waggoner. The Episcopal Church is a province of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
- We are a medium-sized parish, with about 110 people in the pews on a given Sunday, but with many more active in the community on the other six days.
- We’re old and young, male and female, wealthy and poor, gay and straight, conservative and liberal, protestant and catholic.
Our life
- We are a contemporary church living in joyful exuberance and the power of the Holy Spirit who is present with us.
- We worship using the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, which is one of several versions used in Anglican churches throughout the world. The BCP is one of the most influential pieces of English literature, and the prayers it contains are the clearest expression of what it is to be Episcopal. Look throughout these pages for tidbits from the BCP.
- We are a child-friendly church!
- We hope we can be your church.
