Organ

St. Paul’s has had several organs before the present-day organ was installed. The first was installed in 1895 under the direction of William L. Stirling, at the same time a vested choir was formed. In 1906, the organ was moved into the new (present) building but it was destroyed in a fire one year later. A second organ was built in 1911, but was ruined as the result of a major flood in 1931. As money was scarse during thee Depression, the church was without an organ for several decades. Then, in 1964, for St. Paul’s centennial year, a new Casavant organ was installed under the rectorship of the Rev. David S. Alkins, Mus.D.

The present Casavant organ has three manuals (keyboards) and pedal board. Though the stops are present for the third manual, the pipes are not, so only two manuals are useable. Completion of the organ would take a substantial donation but would add considerably to the possibilities for sound variation.
