Lenten Formation Opportunities

A. Beginning Tuesday Feb 28 the Tuesday afternoon Renovare group will be sponsoring a meditation group in the nave and chapels.  The group will gather at 4:30 pm each Tuesday during Lent.

B.  Beginning on Wednesday Feb 29 at 2:00 pm I will lead a discussion group in the Guild Room centered around Walter Brueggemann’s “Embracing the Prophets in Contemporary Culture.”

C. Also beginning on Wednesday Feb. 29 Dr. Tom Davis of the Whitman Philosophy Dept. will be leading a discussion in the Library of the Parables of Jesus.  The group is targeted toward young adults (H.S. seniors – 30′s) but is open to any.  Although an expert in the area, Dr. Davis is not a Christian.  As the Bible frequently reminds us, however, wisdom and revelation are not limited to Christians.  A different perspective can shed new light on old ideas.

Remember that you are dust . . .

Ash Wednesday is February 22.  As is our tradition, we will have three services of Holy Eucharist with the imposition of ashes:  7:00 am, 12:10 pm, and 7:00 pm.

I will also have ashes downtown in the vicinity of Heritage Park for any, Episcopalian or otherwise, who would like to receive them.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 11:15 HEALING SERVICE WILL NOT BE HELD ON ASH WEDNESDAY.

Youth and their families are invited to gather in Campbell Hall before the service for a VERY simple supper and some discussion of Ash Wednesday and Lent.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Talent Show

This coming Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday and brings with it the Youth Group’s annual pancake supper fund raiser.  The cost is unchanged from last year at $9.00 for adults and $6.00 for children (but no one will be turned away).

This year the cost includes entertainment in the form of a Talent Show.  Contact Bill or Ann Howard for information about that portion of the evening.  (Reminder to Youth:  We will be decorating Campbell Hall after coffee hour this Sunday.)

Sermons from Feb 12 are up

Because of some technical difficulties, the sermon for Feb 12 was preached at 8:00 from memory without notes and at the 10:30 service from a full manuscript.

Have a listen on the Sermons page and let us know which style you like better.
